UPDATE
24th June 2024
Currently work on this layout has been put aside while all hands were on deck working on other layouts for exhibitions. Around the Christmas period the points were all laid and wired up on the front baseboard ready to be connected when required and the signaling was planned with their locations roughly mapped on the baseboard, there was work started on the embankments along both the front and rear of the layout board wherein the supports were constructed and a first layer of plaster of Paris has been applied awaiting the building up of further layers. In the very near future, we are hoping to build, insert and attach the middle extension to locate the station and platforms as well as build and locate the curves at each end of the front board leading around to the fiddle yard (again, awaiting construction), now we are in a bigger location with more members able to attend work should start on this layout soon, keep watching as we progress…
Connel Ferry - N Gauge
An N gauge model of Connel Ferry station was started in 2022. This is the first attempt by the club to built a representation of a real location (as far as we know). It is set in the mid 1950s to mid 1960s British Railways era, when the Ballachulish branch was in its final years of operation. We plan to have an image of the Connel Bridge on the backscene. Operation of the layout is likely to be mostly DC but DCC operation may be used occasionally. As for operating signals, we will see?
The move to larger premises will make work on the layout much easier to accomplish.
