UPDATE

24th June 2024

Following our recent success with this great layout at the Edinburgh show and no prospective exhibitions in the near future (for now) we are creating some enhancements to make this layout even better. We have begun by repairing a few minor damages to some of the lighting and signaling that occurred during the transit to our new clubhouse and the return from the Edinburgh show. The mounting for the church scene will be a permanent fitting as for now this is a ‘pop out’ affair to allow the moving in and out of our previous clubhouse possible, happily, something we no longer have to worry about. Once this is situated, we will improve some of the church lighting and its surrounding scenery, we are also working on the automation of the level crossing which will mean no more sitting at a switch anxiously watching each loco approach and hope that we time it right so there isn’t a major collision. We are adding a waterfall to the ravine, an ambitious project guaranteed but will certainly be worth the hard work upon completion. We will be upgrading platform lights with the hopeful intentions of them flickering like the original gas lamps would do, also to upgrade the building lights to randomly come on and off adding more realism to the layout. The final changes will be the updating of the fiddle yard to improve performance and for easier usage, you will notice that the wagon stock will all have added loads (even if only slight) and all will be realistically weathered by one of our members and will most certainly look amazing. Keep an eye on this space…

Glenkiln Road - OO Gauge

Glenkiln Road is a OO gauge layout owned and built by Michael Stokoe with help of our club members. It is set in the 1930s LMS era in Southern Scotland, and is a branchline station with passenger and goods facilities with a small loco shed. The layout is operated using DC. All signals work utilising servos. Many of the buildings and lamps are illuminated. It can be operated as a small layout or in an extended form with a good variety of scenery and a rail-served woodyard.
