Rolling Stock Valuation & Sales

Sale of Rolling Stock from Deceased Modellers

From time to time our club is approached by the relatives of railway modellers who have sadly passed away. Often those relatives have little or no idea of the value of the deceased’s rolling stock and other modelling equipment and accessories.

We are happy to help in those circumstances and can give advice on the second-hand value of model railway related items. We can also suggest how whole collections can best be sold to secure the highest price possible.

Over the years we have assisted with sales of everything from vintage Hornby tinplate locos and coaches up to and including ultra-modern mint condition rolling stock.

We do not charge for this advice and assistance.

We are nevertheless very pleased to have been offered a cash donation by several people who have secured much more for the stock sold than they initially expected and are grateful to anyone who is kind enough to recognise our assistance in that way.

Rolling Stock Donations

Now and again, we are approached by railway modellers who have decided to give up the hobby for any one of a number of different reasons and are kind enough to get in touch with us to gift their pre-loved stock to the club. We are especially pleased when that happens. We then auction the stock to our members and the cash raised is added to our club funds as a donation.

If you want our assistance in selling on behalf of a deceased’s estate or want to donate stock to our club, do please contact us by e-mail on gwsmrc@hotmail.com
